Students and visiting learners

We are proud to be affiliated with Georgetown University, George Washington University, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Johns Hopkins University, Penn State, Drexel University, University of Maryland, and Virginia Commonwealth University for their third- and fourth-year clerkship students. At this time, we are not able to host other visiting student rotations within the residency program.

Prospective applicants

For full consideration, please submit your application via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) by December 1st. Applications are reviewed and interviews are offered on a rolling basis. Please note that our program does not support or sponsor Visas of any kind.

Competitive applicants will have:

  • Achieved a USMLE score of 210 or higher on their first attempt and not failed either Step 1 or 2. The minimum COMLEX score is 500.
  • Completed medical school less than five years prior to applying, or received training at another residency program after graduation.
  • Three personal, detailed letters of recommendation that provide support for academic performance, clinical skill, and commitment to internal medicine. A letter from a department chair or clerkship director is strongly suggested.
Also required as part of a complete ERAS application:
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Dean’s letter or Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
  • Medical school transcript
  • USMLE/COMLEX scores — Step 2 CS/Level 2-PE must have been completed prior to the ranking deadline

Interviews take place between November and January.
