Serving the community

Community Health

At Kaiser Permanente, we recognize that it’s not only how people live, but where they live that can have a big impact on their health and well-being. Our Community Health team is committed to addressing the socioeconomic issues that adversely affect the health of the communities we serve. They work to accomplish this through various programs, grants, social impact investments, and policy advocacy efforts.

Over the last five years, Community Health has invested more than half a billion dollars in communities across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC, allowing us to increase access to quality care, create economic and educational opportunities, and enhance community environments. As a resident, you’ll get to support Kaiser Permanente’s Community Health mission by volunteering at local health fairs and special events across the region.

Good Health and Great Hair | Baltimore

Kaiser Permanente has a long-standing commitment to total health by addressing not only the physical, but the mental and social health needs of our members and their communities. Similarly, barbershops and salons have long served as gathering places for communities of color.

Recognizing the history of both institutions, Kaiser Permanente launched Good Health & Great Hair™, an effort to work with barbershops and salons to bring critical health and social support services to Baltimore City communities.

The program focuses on three goals—providing exceptional care to the communities we serve, reducing health disparities by increasing access to health care and social services, and saving lives by detecting and diagnosing diseases.
